Feature summary

The Advanced Cholesterol Formula from Natural Factors contains a powerful trio of clinically proven natural ingredients that improve blood lipid levels and antioxidant status. Unlike many cholesterol medications, this synergistic formula actually helps lower damaging triglycerides and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) while raising “good” cholesterol (HDL). Very few natural products have this HDL-raising effect, making this formula particularly attractive for anyone with low HDL and/or high blood pressure, high triglycerides, and elevated total cholesterol. Results are usually seen within as little as one month, and compare favourably to cholesterol-lowering drugs such as statins.

This synergistic combination of “intermediate-release” niacin, anthocyanidin-rich hibiscus extract, and Sytrinol (a flavonoid-rich extract of citrus peel and palm fruit) improves blood lipid status while avoiding the unpleasant “niacin flush” effect common to most niacin products. This intermediate-release formula releases niacin steadily over a 6–8 hour period without requiring a synthetic tablet coating, unlike many prescription and over-the-counter no-flush niacin products.

In addition to supporting healthy blood lipid levels, the Advanced Cholesterol Formula contains natural antioxidants known to help protect against lipid peroxidation. By improving cholesterol and triglyceride levels while enhancing antioxidant status, this formula also helps reduce the blood vessel inflammation that may contribute to poor cardiovascular health.

  • One of the very few natural ways to raise “good” HDL cholesterol
  • Contains three clinically proven natural ingredients: niacin, Sytrinol, and hibiscus extract
  • Niacin compares favourably with cholesterol-lowering drugs, including statins
  • No skin flushing
  • Helps reduce vascular inflammation

How it works

Niacin is well-known to exert beneficial effects on blood lipids. It lowers LDL cholesterol as well as the more harmful Lp(a) lipoprotein, triglycerides, and inflammatory markers (C-reactive protein, fibrinogen, etc.) while simultaneously raising HDL cholesterol. Niacin reduces LDL cholesterol by restricting the liver’s production of very low density lipoprotein (VLDL), a precursor to LDL cholesterol, and increasing the particle size of LDL cholesterol from the smaller, more dangerous dense form, to a larger, more innocuous form that is less associated with coronary artery disease.

Sytrinol lowers cholesterol and triglycerides by three complementary mechanisms of action: the polymethoxylated flavones from citrus peel (PMFs) decrease apolipoprotein B, a structural protein needed for the manufacture of LDLcholesterol; PMFs decrease diacylglycerol acetyl transferase, a liver enzyme needed for endogenous synthesis of triglycerides; and the palm fruit tocotrienols inhibit HMG CoA reductase, a liver enzyme responsible for the manufacture of cholesterol.

Hibiscus sabdariffa extracts have demonstrated blood pressure-lowering effects in hypertensive patients, and cholesterol-lowering effects. The active components are anthocyanidin glycosides. In addition to reducing cholesterol and triglyceride synthesis, hibiscus is thought to hinder the process of atherosclerosis and improve blood vessel function through its antioxidant effect on the endothelium (the blood vessel lining).
