Product Details

As people age, hydrochloric acid secretion may be reduced, which leads to decreased levels of pepsin, the number one enzyme required to digest protein. This inability to breakdown and utilize protein can cause nutrient deficiencies that may lead to the breakdown of overall health. The combination of Betaine HCL and Pepsin provide digestive support to the aging population or to anyone requiring additional HCL due to low production and/or for the individual requiring additional digestive support after a large protein meal.

Betaine hydrochloride is a supplemental source of hydrochloric acid (HCL). HCL is used by the stomach to help produce pepsin. HCL converts pepsinogen to pepsin; an enzyme that breaks down protein into smaller more easily absorbed molecules. Without proper pepsin levels, the body has a difficult time breaking down and utilizing the nutrients in proteins. The combination of Betaine hydrochloride and pepsin provides and effective combination allowing for protein breakdown and absorption. As it is hypothesized that chronically low HCL is the catalyst for many diseases, Betaine HCL is said to be effective in treating abnormally low levels of potassium (hypokalemia), hay fever, anemia, asthma, atherosclerosis, yeast infections, diarrhea, food allergies, gallstones, inner ear infections, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and thyroid disorders.
