Description

  • Blueberry (Vaccinium angustifolium)

The blueberry was already one of the most traditionally used in plants Quebec, with fenugreek, for antidiabétique4 use. The studies hitherto largely demonstrated the antioxidant properties of blueberries, but had little interest in the potential antidiabetic thereof. Martineau LC, et al. therefore studied in 2006 its insulin-like activities, glitazone-like and cytoprotective. The study confirmed these blueberry activities, including activity similar to insulin (insulin-like) considerable V. angustifolium; an important glitazone-like activity; a cytoprotective effect. It has also been reported an anti-diabetic effect on pancreatic beta cells. If the mechanisms are not clearly identified, and the observed results presented in the study have led researchers to support the conclusion use blueberries as a natural product in the context of type 2 diabetes in humans.

  • Chromium

Chromium is a trace element essential to human health. Its property, among others, of increasing the sensitivity of tissues to insulin. This helps to standardize and stabilize the sugar and insulin levels in the blood. In 2010, a study showed that taking 1,000 mcg of chromium picolinate may increase insulin sensitivity in diabetics. This effect was even more important that the insulin resistance of the subjects was high. A positive effect was also reported at a rate of 400 mcg of chromium nicotinate per day, in patients with insulin resistance was due to their treatment against the HIV6. In 2011, Korean researchers published a study showing that chromium chloride can reduce insulin resistance in obese children, at 400 mcg day7.
