Characteristics and function:

One of Feverfew's most notable features is its outstanding ability to reduce the incidence of headaches and migraines. Its effectiveness in this regard is due to its parthenolide content. There is, however, great variability in the chemical constituents of this herb and many commercial products tested were shown to contain none of the active ingredients associated with migraine prophylaxis. Wild Rose Migraherb uses Guaranteed Potency feverfew to ensure maximum effectiveness and overcome problems with quality variability.

Feverfew helps reduce platelet aggregation and also dilate the micro vessels in the head. Both vascular construction and platelet aggregation can be associated with migraines. Prophylactic use of feverfew is recommended as it seems to have little effect if its taken during an acute migraine attack (best taken in regular, daily small dosages). Feverfew is also highly regarded for its anti-inflammatory benefits, making it of use with arthritis and asthma. As its name implies, feverfew has often been used for colds and flus, especially when accompanied by a high temperature. Ginger root decreases platelet aggregation and is a circulatory stimulant, aiding in blood flow. Willow bark contains naturally occurring salicylate constituents, which reduce platelet aggregation, lower cholesterol and are an excellent circulatory tonic.
